DAV NORDIC, as the main contractor, managed the production, delivery, and installation of the noise barrier for ADP – Associated Danish Ports A/S. The project began in February 2021 and aimed not only to reduce noise from the port area but also to create a visually striking noise barrier using various materials that complement the surrounding environment. The client wanted an effective noise barrier that also visually resonated with the port area.

Noise reduction and aesthetic design combined

The growing focus on noise over the years has created a demand for noise-reducing solutions across the country. This time, DAV NORDIC, as the main contractor for the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet), with Randers Municipality also involved as a partner on part of the stretch, has delivered and installed a 2 km long and 7 meter high noise barrier along the section between exits 39 and 40 of the E45.

The barrier is of the green wall type, a frequently used solution by DAV NORDIC. It combines noise reduction with the opportunity for greenery to be planted directly on the wall. In addition, wooden slats have been mounted on selected sections.

Collaboration across parties and a satisfying end result

DAV NORDIC has worked closely with ISC Consulting Engineers A/S, who were responsible for the design, as well as Kølkær Entreprenør, who handled the earth and drainage works.

The cooperation has gone very well. With a site office located close to both the Road Directorate’s supervision and Kølkær, we had optimal conditions for quick coordination, close dialogue and decision-making – something that has strengthened both the process and the collaboration.

Collaboration across parties and a satisfying end result

Originally, the noise barrier was tendered as a 1,200-meter stretch with two options of approximately 400 meters each. Both of these were added during the course of the project. The northernmost part near exit 39 was built for Randers Municipality, but the entire construction was managed and completed by the Danish Road Directorate.

At DAV NORDIC, projects like this are always rewarding, as they help create a significant improvement in the daily lives of many citizens in Helsted
