The school is named “New School in Kødbyen” and will be opened for use at the start of the 2024 school year. The vision is for the school to serve as a hub for both educational and recreational activities, creating a natural connection with the Kødbyen district. In addition to being a state-of-the-art public school, the building also houses a culinary school with its own production kitchen.

BAM Danmark, in collaboration with Nord Architects, BBP Architects, engineering firm Norconsult, and landscape architects BOGL, constructed the school, and the noise barrier was delivered as a subcontract to BAM Danmark.

Special Noise Barrier with Doors

The noise barrier is a Green Wall sound barrier, a type DAV NORDIC has been installing in many projects in recent years. The noise barrier is fully customized for this specific project and consists of a transparent section made of glass and a sound-absorbing section that features an elegant pattern. The glass sections make the barrier feel less massive and give it a sense of openness while allowing the school’s children to observe the traffic outside.

The barrier is 155 meters long and 3 meters high, with one section reaching 4 meters in height due to level differences over an 8-meter stretch. Uniquely, three doors have been installed in the barrier. Attaching the barrier required different solutions: on the side facing Ingerslevs Boulevard, concrete piles were cast into the ground, while on the side facing Staldgade, a concrete retaining wall was built to anchor the barrier.

DAV NORDIC has had a very good collaboration with BAM Danmark on this project

Kødbyen: A Creative Hub

Kødbyen in Vesterbro is now a creative hub where restaurants, nightclubs, and galleries sit side by side with slaughterhouses that are still in operation. The area has housed the meat industry for decades and consists of the White, Gray, and Brown Kødby, named after the color of the buildings. It will now also host a culinary school.
