As the Aarhus suburb of Lisbjerg develops into a significant new urban district in the coming years, the need for modern and safe infrastructure follows. A key part of this development is the construction of a new bypass road, designed to relieve traffic on existing main roads and create a safer and more efficient transport corridor for both residents and commuters. For the project, DAV NORDIC has supplied Verdo with 300 poles, 200 of which are 8-metre passively safe Protec poles. Verdo has been responsible for installing the poles, luminaires, and safety components.
The new bypass road will play a major role in the development of Lisbjerg, where infrastructure must keep pace with rapid urban growth. With the establishment of the road, residents and road users will benefit from:
The majority of the new poles in the Lisbjerg project are passively safe, which is particularly important for safety along the route.
A passively safe pole is designed to deform in a controlled manner in the event of a collision. Instead of acting as a rigid, immovable obstacle, the pole yields and absorbs part of the impact energy, significantly reducing the risk of serious personal injury in accidents.
On a new bypass road like this, where speeds are typically higher than in the city centre, the need for passively safe solutions is especially great. The 8-metre-high poles therefore not only contribute to improved lighting but also serve as an active measure to enhance safety for motorists in the area.
The project is yet another example of the strong collaboration between Verdo and DAV NORDIC. While DAV supplied the poles in exactly the quality and specifications required for the project, Verdo handled the installation of poles, luminaires, and safety components.
The collaboration has been characterised by:
The result is a project delivered on schedule and an area that has been able to put a modern and safe road connection into operation.
For a new district like Lisbjerg, good lighting is about far more than functionality. The right solution enhances road safety, creates a sense of security, and contributes to a positive experience of the area. With the delivery of 300 poles, DAV NORDIC has made a clear mark on future infrastructure.
We are proud to be part of the development of Lisbjerg and of the strong collaboration with Verdo that makes it possible to deliver projects of this scale with both quality and safety.
