Noise is defined as unwanted or unpleasant sound. All types of noise—from concerts to road traffic—can have an impact on the human body. Even if the noise isn’t loud enough to damage hearing, it can still affect other parts of the body. For example, it can trigger physical and psychological stress reactions such as difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, and high blood pressure.
That’s exactly why it’s important to take noise seriously.
Noise disturbance can be reduced using a noise barrier.
Noise barriers work by either absorbing or reflecting noise—and even a small reduction in decibels can make a noticeable difference. In fact, a reduction of just 1 dB can be perceived by the human ear.
A reduction of 10 dB will cut the noise level in half.
In other words, a drop of 10 dB is experienced as a 50% reduction in noise disturbance. To put this into perspective, 75 dB is equivalent to the sound of a vacuum cleaner.
