The residents of Korvethusene in Nykøbing Sjælland can now park their cars in shelter under new modern canopies with a special sedum roof.

DAV NORDIC has supplied two car parking canopies to the owners’ association of Korvethusene in Nykøbing Sjælland. Previously, the association had only one covered parking space, which was insufficient to meet demand. To address this, they have now invested in new parking facilities, with each canopy accommodating five cars, significantly increasing the number of covered parking spaces.
Beyond adding more parking capacity, the owners’ association wanted the design to be aesthetically pleasing and blend naturally with the residential buildings, as the canopies would be more exposed in the open space.
The canopies were therefore designed with sedum roofs and built with a simple and lightweight steel structure without cladding.
Several factors influenced the decision to use sedum roofs. Firstly, they align with the overall design vision, and secondly, they offer numerous benefits. For example, sedum roofs reduce water runoff by up to 50%, protect roofing materials from UV rays, and extend their lifespan. The chosen sedum roof is also fire-approved according to Broof(t2), contributing to fire prevention.
Another major advantage is that sedum roofs support biodiversity, providing a habitat for insects and birds. They absorb CO2 and are almost 100% CO2-neutral in production.
Sedum roofs have a long lifespan and require minimal maintenance. The plants are selected to withstand the Danish climate and retain significant amounts of water, allowing them to endure longer dry periods.
