In less than a year, DAV NORDIC has doubled the number of employees working in noise reduction. The department now consists of 9 employees, all focused on reducing noise pollution and thereby improving public health for affected citizens. With 8 ongoing noise reduction projects, the team is busy.

DAV NORDIC provides and installs Denmark’s widest range of noise reduction solutions. The main product is noise barriers, which are available in both sound-absorbing and sound-reflecting versions. The noise barriers come with a variety of surfaces, ranging from wood to plastic and vegetation, depending on the requirements for noise reduction and design, and are available as either transparent or fully opaque. In addition to noise barriers, DAV NORDIC also develops custom noise reduction solutions, such as those for shooting ranges, ports, manufacturing companies, and more.
Noise is a societal issue We are seeing a significant increase in noise barrier projects these years, which I believe is due to health pressures from citizens and increased awareness of the harmful effects of noise. It is encouraging that politicians have chosen to prioritize this area and have allocated 3 billion DKK in the new Infrastructure Plan 2035 for noise reduction. Additionally, funds have been set aside for noise barriers in several upcoming construction projects, including the expansion from two to three lanes on the E45 highway. Ulrik Toft Marcussen continues: “We have doubled the size of our noise reduction department in a very short time, and we have managed to assemble a team of experts, allowing us to handle all types of noise reduction, from static calculations to the actual execution of the noise reduction. The slowdown in the construction industry has helped us in finding qualified employees. Generally, it is a major focus for us to consolidate our market position and work on new innovative solutions for the benefit of public health. At the same time, we are placing great emphasis on achieving a lower CO2 footprint in future solutions.”
Earlier this year, DAV NORDIC was selected to build Denmark’s tallest and longest noise barrier along the motorway, which is one of the new noise barrier projects. The noise barrier is being constructed in Aalborg along the Nordjyske Motorway and consists of 4 contracts, all carried out by DAV NORDIC. The noise barrier will be nearly 8 km long and, in some places, up to 9 meters high.
Looking towards the future, DAV NORDIC envisions tunnels in densely populated areas as a solution to contain noise. This is, of course, costly, but may be the only way to address noise issues at a level that sufficiently protects public health.
DAV NORDIC is realizing a revenue growth of over 50% in 2023 and has increased its workforce by 19 employees. Growth appears to be continuing, and therefore, an expansion of the headquarters in Silkeborg is planned, providing space for 20-30 new employees, as well as a renovation of the Bjæverskov branch to accommodate more staff.
