Traffic Modules in Three Municipalities: A Flexible Solution for Road Safety

Over the past year, DAV NORDIC has supplied traffic modules to three different Danish municipalities, each with their own need to improve road safety. The projects in Faxe, Skanderborg, and Randers are individually small, but together they demonstrate the versatility and flexibility of traffic modules – and why they are an ideal choice when improving safety on both existing and newly developed roads.

Scalable solutions – regardless of scope

One of the key advantages of traffic modules is their adaptability. They require no major interventions in the road surface, are quick to install, and can be relocated or expanded as needed. This makes them particularly suitable for smaller towns, high-traffic areas, and temporary solutions where flexibility and safety must go hand in hand.

In Skanderborg Municipality, four sets of traffic modules have been installed at the intersection of Jeksenvej and Allé Gade. This is an area where traffic needs to be calmed as it passes through the village, and the modules have been chosen specifically for their speed-reducing effect. They help define the road layout and create a natural slowdown in the town center, which is characterized by vulnerable road users and a low speed limit.

Replacement and new installations in Faxe Municipality

In Faxe Municipality, a combination of replacement and new installation has been implemented. At the roundabout on Rønnedevej, four new 2×2 meter traffic modules have been installed, improving visibility and clarifying the road layout for both motorists and cyclists.

On Faxevej, two existing traffic modules have been replaced with new ones of the same size (1.5×2 meters). Here, it was important to maintain functionality while slightly optimizing the positioning compared to the previous modules. This has improved traffic flow and enhanced safety in the area.

Both projects were initiated by the municipality, which contacted DAV NORDIC directly with a request for a specific solution. Following quotation and dialogue, the work was carried out by in-house installation teams – with a focus on minimizing disruption to traffic.

Speed reduction in a newly developed area in Randers

In Randers Municipality, traffic modules form part of a larger road development project. Six new modules have been installed in connection with new residential developments, where the goal has been to reduce speed on the existing road. The modules have been integrated into the overall road layout from the outset and contribute to safe traffic flow in the new residential area. The solution was chosen because the modules can be installed without disrupting the surrounding road network and can be adjusted later if needed.

When road safety and flexibility go hand in hand

DAV NORDIC’s traffic modules are designed with a focus on functionality, visibility, and durability. They are cast in concrete and mounted on blocks, allowing them to be moved and reinstalled quickly. This reduces time spent working on the road, minimizes disruption for road users, and improves safety for installation crews.

The modules can be equipped with signage, poles, or EV charging stations, making them suitable for both temporary setups and permanent installations. This makes them an effective tool for municipalities looking to improve road safety without engaging in costly and extensive infrastructure projects.

A solution for many needs

Whether in urban environments, residential developments, or smaller towns with intersecting traffic, traffic modules are a solution that works. The projects in Faxe, Skanderborg, and Randers demonstrate how targeted measures can create safer conditions for road users while maintaining flexibility in urban planning.

DAV NORDIC is happy to advise on the different options and provides production, delivery, and installation of the modules.
