The new thansen store in Tilst has been fitted with a 40 metre loading bay canopy. DAV NORDIC supplied the modular steel structure along with bollards, mast guards and bicycle racks for the project, which was carried out for Daugaard Pedersen.

As part of the construction of a new thansen store in Tilst, DAV NORDIC supplied and installed a custom designed 40 metre loading bay canopy. The canopy was installed at the rear loading area of the building, where it functions as an integrated structure along the facade and creates improved working conditions for deliveries and goods handling.
The project was delivered to Daugaard Pedersen, who acted as contractor for thansen.
The 40 metre canopy was manufactured in four separate modules, which were later lifted into place by crane. The modular design made both transportation and installation more efficient, while also significantly reducing installation time on site.
By dividing the structure into four sections, the installation could be carefully planned and carried out quickly, which was a major advantage on an active construction site where several trades were working simultaneously.
The canopy was installed by fastening it to cast in balcony brackets, ensuring a stable and durable integration with the building structure. The solution required precise coordination between steel production, installation and the surrounding construction works to ensure all connections aligned perfectly during installation.
The delivery included more than the canopy itself. DAV NORDIC also supplied several solutions for protection and functionality around the store.
In front of the store, 14 bollards were installed to protect the building and create a clear separation between traffic and customer areas. At the loading bay, a heavy duty truck bollard was installed to protect the building from impact during deliveries.
In addition, DAV NORDIC supplied three ProPark mast guards for protecting poles, as well as freestanding bicycle racks that contribute to practical and user friendly outdoor areas around the new store.
The project in Tilst is a strong example of how steel structures can be adapted to modern commercial construction projects, where functionality, logistics and aesthetics must work together seamlessly. With the long canopy at the loading area, the store now benefits from a solution that both improves day to day operations and protects staff and deliveries from the weather. Throughout the project, DAV NORDIC focused on delivering a robust and reliable solution tailored to the overall architectural expression of the building.
